Correcting the billing address of an already-created order (Shopify)
Symptom
A Shopify order has an incorrect billing address (street, city, ZIP, name…) and it needs to be corrected before generating/sending the fiscal document, but Shopify doesn’t allow editing the billing address of an order that’s already been created.
Cause
Shopify doesn’t expose an interface to edit the billing address after the order has been created. POP works around this limitation with a set of dedicated order metafields that, when populated, override the corresponding data at document generation time.
Fix
- In Shopify Admin, go to Settings > Custom data > Orders and create the definitions for the
following metafields (namespace
app, type “Single line text”):pop_billing_first_namepop_billing_last_namepop_billing_companypop_billing_address1pop_billing_address2pop_billing_citypop_billing_provincepop_billing_zippop_billing_country
- Open the affected order and populate only the fields that need correcting: you don’t need to fill them all in, even a single field is enough.
- Save: POP merges field by field — the metafields you set override the order’s original data, the other fields keep their original values (billing address, or failing that, the customer/shipping address).
- Regenerate the document: it will immediately use the corrected address.
