How to delete an invoice generated by POP
Symptom
There’s no “delete invoice” button in the Invoices tab or in POP’s document list.
Cause
Invoices generated by POP are structurally linked to the order that originated them: they don’t exist as independent entities in the database. If the order doesn’t exist (or is deleted), the associated invoice no longer exists either. This is true whether you’re using the POP plugin alone or with a transmission channel/add-on active (Fatture in Cloud, Aruba, etc.) for the document generation part on the WordPress side.
Fix
To “delete” an invoice, delete the linked WooCommerce order:
- Go to
WooCommerce > Orders. - Find the order corresponding to the invoice number to remove.
- Move it to trash or delete it permanently, following the standard WooCommerce procedure.
Before doing this, consider the tax implications: if the invoice had already been sent/transmitted (e.g. to the SDI, or uploaded to a connected external accounting system), deleting the local order does not cancel the transmission that already took place. For a document that has already been transmitted, the correct route is a credit note, not deletion — see credit-note-generation.
