Invoicing Paid Memberships Pro subscriptions with POP

Goal

Generate electronic invoices for memberships sold through Paid Memberships Pro (PMPro), using POP as the invoicing engine instead of (or in addition to) WooCommerce.

Don’t confuse it with Cozmoslabs’ Paid Member Subscriptions: these are two different membership plugins with similar names but separate POP integrations.

Prerequisites

Steps

  1. Install and activate POP on the WordPress site.
  2. Go to POP > Integrations and activate the Paid Memberships Pro card. Unlike the sending channels (Fatture in Cloud/Aruba/SDI), this integration is not mutually exclusive with the others: you can keep it active alongside a regular WooCommerce store and its sending channel.
  3. Once active, POP automatically adds to the PMPro checkout the same billing fields used in WooCommerce (customer type private/company/freelance, SDI code/PEC, fiscal code/VAT number), and will use that data to generate the invoice for every payment recorded by PMPro.

Tax calculation

The addon automatically calculates VAT on PMPro memberships using the rates configured in POP for the billing country: no additional option needs to be enabled for POP to generate the tax on the document — it’s an always-on behavior of the addon, not a switch you flip.

If under PMPro > Settings > Advanced you also have PMPro’s native option for tax calculation at checkout, that concerns what the customer sees during payment (the amount shown at checkout), not whether POP calculates VAT on the invoice: these are two separate things, and the second doesn’t depend on the first.

Verify

After a test payment on a PMPro membership level, check that POP generated the document with the billing data entered at checkout and with VAT correctly calculated.

Common errors

To activate a sending channel (required for POP to transmit the invoice to the SDI or the chosen provider), see sdi-via-pop or fatture-in-cloud-connect.
