Attaching the Fatture in Cloud PDF to order emails
Goal
Choose whether to attach to order emails the invoice PDF generated by Fatture in Cloud, or use the PDF generated by default by POP.
Prerequisites
- The Fatture in Cloud connection already active.
Steps
- In the plugin’s Fatture in Cloud tab, find the option ‘Use the “Fatture in Cloud” PDF document as an attachment to the Invoice email’.
- Enabled — the PDF attached both to the manual “Invoice” email (an action available on the order) and to the automatic invoice email sent after delivery to the SDI (if SDI sending is active) is the one generated by Fatture in Cloud, retrieved from the document already uploaded to their system.
- Disabled — the PDF generated internally by POP is used, without depending on Fatture in Cloud.
Behavior when the document doesn’t exist yet
With the option enabled, if an order moves to “completed” but the invoice hasn’t yet been uploaded to Fatture in Cloud (e.g. automatic sending hasn’t run yet, see fatture-in-cloud-auto-send), the customer email is not sent at all — it doesn’t fall back to POP’s PDF, it simply waits until the Fatture in Cloud document exists. Once the document is present, sending resumes normally with the correct PDF attached.
Verify
Manually send the “Invoice” email from an order whose document is already uploaded to Fatture in Cloud and check the attachment: with the option enabled it must have Fatture in Cloud’s layout, not POP’s standard one.
Common errors
- The customer email doesn’t go out at all — with the option enabled this is expected until the document has been uploaded to Fatture in Cloud: check the status of automatic sending or manually upload the invoice (see fatture-in-cloud-auto-send) before expecting the email.
- The attachment stays POP’s even with the option enabled — the Fatture in Cloud PDF only exists once the document has been uploaded to their system: if the PDF URL is missing from the order metadata, the plugin has nothing to retrieve.
