How to update the POP plugin
Goal
Update the POP plugin to the latest version without interrupting invoice generation.
Prerequisites
- Administrator access to
wp-admin. - Ideally, a staging environment mirroring the production site where you can test the update first.
Steps
- Go to
wp-admin > Plugins. - Find “POP – European e-invoicing compliance for e-commerce” (or “ex-WooPop”): if an update is available, WordPress flags it on the same row.
- Click Update Now. WordPress downloads and replaces the plugin files while keeping the saved settings (options are stored in the database, not in the plugin files).
- Once done, open
POP → Electronic Invoice - Settingsto check that the tabs open correctly and that the previously configured data (General, Numeration, Documents…) are still there.
Verify
- The version shown in
wp-admin > Plugins(next to the plugin name) matches the downloaded release. - Generate a test order (or one in sandbox) to confirm that XML and PDF are still produced correctly after the update.
Common errors
- A setting seems to have disappeared or changed after the update — check the changelog of the installed version before opening a ticket: some options get renamed or moved between tabs when the settings structure changes. See changelog/wordpress-plugin for where to find the release notes.
- Different behavior compared to before the update — check whether the changelog lists it as an intentional change before treating it as a bug.
- You want to postpone an important update — test it in staging first: universal compatibility with every combination of third-party themes/plugins installed on your store can’t be guaranteed.
