Managing Shopify orders with a zero total amount
Goal
Configure how POP handles Shopify orders with a zero total (100% discounts, coupons, free gift items) to avoid unnecessary invoices or wasted numbering.
Prerequisites
- Access to Settings > Documents in the POP for Shopify app.
Steps
In the app’s Documents section, two independent options are available:
- Disable document — if enabled, when the order total is zero POP generates neither the document nor an invoice number for that order.
- Remove products — removes only the zero-total lines from the invoice (e.g. free gifts, 100%-discount items), keeping the document for the rest of the order.
The two options are independent: you can enable both, either one, or neither.
Verify
- With Disable document enabled, a zero-total order shows the message “Order total is 0. Document generation is disabled.” in the Orders table, and the generation buttons remain inactive for that order.
- With Remove products enabled, generate a document on an order with at least one zero-price line and verify that line doesn’t appear in the resulting PDF/XML.
Common errors
- The document isn’t created and I don’t understand why — check whether Disable document is enabled: this is the expected behavior for zero-total orders, not an error.
- Free gift lines still appear on the invoice — check that Remove products is enabled; if disabled, all lines (even zero-price ones) remain on the invoice.
