Invoice number and POP status in Shopify reports (e.g. Report Pundit)
Goal
Make POP’s invoice number, credit note number, and delivery status readable by third-party Shopify reporting apps (e.g. Report Pundit), without manual exports or the paid “POP to Webhook” integration.
What you need
- No configuration: the metafields are created automatically the first time the POP app loads after the update (works on existing installations too).
- To read them from a third-party app (e.g. Report Pundit): map the following metafields in that app’s configuration.
Available metafields
All under the app namespace, natively visible on the Shopify Admin order page (they’re pinned):
| Key | Type | Content |
|---|---|---|
app.pop_fattura_numero | text | Invoice number (e.g. 0787/2026) |
app.pop_fattura_status | text | Active channel status for the invoice (e.g. RC, MC, NS, sent, valid) |
app.pop_nota_credito_numero | JSON | { "<refund_id>": "<credit note number>" }, one entry per credit note on the order |
app.pop_nota_credito_status | JSON | { "<refund_id>": "<status>" }, same schema |
Good to know
- The invoice number is published independently of delivery through an official channel (SdI, PEPPOL, etc.): PDF-only stores or markets with no official channel still get the metafield populated.
- If the status becomes
NS(not deliverable), the invoice number stays unchanged: only the status changes. - An order can have multiple credit notes (multiple refunds): each credit note gets its own entry in the JSON, keyed by refund id.
Verify
- Generate an invoice (or credit note) on a test order after the update.
- Open the order in Shopify Admin:
app.pop_fattura_numeroandapp.pop_fattura_statusshould appear in the metafields section, with the expected values. - Configure your reporting app to read these metafields on the order.
Common errors
- Old orders don’t have the metafield populated: expected, metafields are only populated by invoices generated after the update, not retroactively. For a specific order, regenerate the document to make it appear.
- Metafields don’t appear at all on the order page: reopen the POP app from Shopify Admin, the metafield definitions are created the first time it loads after the update.
